Speaking of ratings, I wonder what FOX’s are? Are they going up with their inclusion of nutters? Or are they struggling and thus going for the outrageous?

Playing to the crowd. It’s what their focus groups are telling them they want to see. It’s not news—it’s pandering. They sense the fears of the viewers and feed them what they want to hear—validating that fear. They are clueless (at best) as to the harm they are doing.
