I’m not going to bother. My father has left me with the impression over the years that he is one of those wingnuts who thinks he knows everything there is to know and gets angry if you try to correct his misinformation. The same day we discussed the NFL, he brought up the Confederate statues, and is utterly convinced that the Civil War was over “economics.”

Well, you could quip that it was…the economics of the South continuing to own slaves and use that slave labor to stave off mechanization.

However, that’s still probably going to be a losing fight with someone so ingrained in their POV.
