Once you’ve covered (as LVQ suggested) some basic grade school science like how rain and snow works then move on to some basic systems theory which is the basis of really understanding ecological systems and you’ll find things like ‘positive feedback’ loops. Once you get an understanding of those concepts you’ll understand what’s happening with the methane seeping issue and how AGW fits with the whole thing. In a nutshell warming can create feedback loops that accelerate (exponentially) ecosystem processes. Ecosystems do not function in linear a fashion.
