Flynn must have some real dirt on Trump.

I doubt that’s it. Flynn is a retired General and an early ass kisser of Trump’s. Flynn was there with him on the road, defending him and attacking Hillary in speech after speech. In Trump’s view that combination of military gravitas and personal ingratiation makes Flynn a good guy and valuable ally. Add to that the fact that Flynn’s sins, doing whatever it took to get paid even if by hostile foreign governments, aren’t sins in Trump’s business worldview.
