Some of the dislike is understandable due to poor treatment of Christians by some Muslims—and sometimes worse, like the Armenian genocide—but once someone lets their hatred extend to an entire group of people, they’ve lost (no matter whether it’s Christians hating Muslims, Muslims hating Jews, Israelis hating Palestinians, etc.)

I would also note that some of the most vicious Islamophobes are of Christian Arab ancestry like Brigitte Gabriel (Marontie/Lebanon), Raymond Ibrahim (Coptic/Egypt), and even Robert Spencer (Greek Melkite/Turkey Syria).

Knew about Spencer. But you’re right, you can’t let bad experiences allow you to treat an entire group poorly. I mean we have bad experiences with people of all sorts of groups. I’ve seen Bryan Fischer use the existence of a handful of gay Nazis as his rationale for discriminating against gay people and I just think “Hold on, the vast majority of Nazi Party members would have been heterosexual Lutherans”( which also happens to fit what my German born G-Grandpa was).
