You’re right. Any private company that had lost as much money as NASA has on the Space Shuttle program alone would have long ago gone into liquidation, with a lot of headshaking over how stupid it’d been to put so much money into a program that was built on promises that are unattainable even now.

I just don’t think our level of space travel/exploration and science would be anywhere near where it is now if corporations were in charge. They’d see little profit from most of it.
