The term Liberal has been hijacked. It used to denote a principled position, not a knee-jerk leftist.

Why are you hatin’ on Franken? He is a really nice guy, you should get to know him better. Also, liberal used to mean (and still means in many places outside of the US) more or less what we mean by classical liberal/libertarian.
