Because they settled and the court accepted the settlement.

EDIT - like my SIL said, if the COURT has to decide the facts, and the lie interferes with the court’s fact finding, you’re in a world of shit. If you settle, and YOU present the terms and the facts to the court, the court doesn’t care.
