What always struck me as odd is the fact that men’s clothing was rationally based - waist size, inseam, arm length, chest size.

You could get a pair of pants for 36 waist, 34 inseam, and the pants fit.

A woman? You’ve got a size 8, which makes no difference as to inseam or anything else for that matter. It’s just a seemingly arbitrary number.

I see it all the time when shopping with the Mrs. I can buy a pair of pants and know exactly how it should fit based on the numbers, but the Mrs. will have to try on every pair of pants in the place because there’s no way to tell. It’s insane.
