When I read Hitchens’ article about being waterboarded, at first I didn’t want to accept what it was telling me. I actually had a sleepless night trying to work through the moral issues, and eventually accepted the simple truth that our government was torturing people. Really, really torturing people, in a way that was completely beyond the pale of what I thought the US was capable of.
I’ll never go back to being that person who made fun of waterboarding and torture. Never. It’s one of the major reasons for LGF’s change of direction.
You didn’t think we tortured? We taught a freakn’ doctorate in it, depending on who you believe.
