Every layer of the anti-choice movement, like every kind of racism, has a mix of differing motives in varying proportions. Those who are driven by those motives are rarely aware of them.

Just one fundamental drive of the anti-abortion/anti-contraception effort is to overproduce mouths to be fed, forcing parents to accept increasingly shitty work at increasingly lower pay. Team LaSalle for the win!!

I see that as an unwanted side effect: the main impetus is the moral constraint: fear of unwanted pregnancy (and unwanted birth) should help people (chiefly young women) keep their legs together until they have found a husband who can afford to keep them at home, barefoot and pregnant.

And it is fear of women: they know how susceptible men are to their sexual wiles and want to limit their ability to use them on the mentally and emotionally weaker sex.
