re: #1139 William

1) One can make the case the “birth certificate” issue is goofy. Fair enough.

2) But can one make the case “it has been proven ad nauseum,” as Gibbs claims, that Obama is a natural born citizen? I know my birth certificate, and that of my children, lists the doctor who performed the delivery, and the hospital.

I think these two points are getting intertwined — the first point is a fair position, but the second point has simply not been “proven ad nauseum.”

This June 6, 2009 article from the Honolulu Star Bulletin states all Hawaii birth certificates from 1908 onwards were stored electronically, so perhaps a few dozen journalists could have been pulled from Palin duty in Alaska to vet candidate Obama in 2008.

And a 1961 newspaper classified ad announcing Obama’s birth listed an address of “6085 Kalanianaole Highway” — a house which appears to have an unusual history, being owned by Orland Scott Lefforge (a very liberal Democrat political activist) in 1961, and not Stanley Ann Dunham (Obama’s mother), and long-time neighbors not recalling Stanley Ann or Obama living there. Again, perhaps a few dozen journalists could have been pulled from Palin duty in Alaska to vet candidate Obama in 2008.

Am I wrong here? Has it “been proven ad nauseum” or is the issue just too offbeat to take seriously? From what I can tell, there are many basic questions left unanswered, and the deeper one looks on this issue, the worse things appear for Obama.

Obama was born in the Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961:
