Getting that pass implies a process of prior certification, something the 1A would be concerned about. At the same time, every asshole with an iPhone is not what the FF had in mind. Technology outstrips law again.

(In the 60s, when I was working the bottom rung of photography, an accepted canon was that you could not call yourself a professional photographer until you made 51% of your income from it.)

That’s one way of looking at it, another might be if you are well published. Lets grab a hypothetical. Let’s say someone a lot like Charles or Markos Moulitsas wants to show up and cover an event? It’s not just photography it’s reporting.
