I’d be empathetic if they just tried even remotely to understand that they’re not the only ones who love this country, have a work ethic, have jobs, love their families, etc. Instead, I have to deal with one of my wingnut cousins posting a stupid Ronald Reagan quote how Republicans think every day is July 4 and Democrats think every day is April 15 and this was coming from a man who knew many Democratic combat veterans. Republicans hate admitting that Dems can be just as patriotic as they are. I don’t wear a flag pin but I’m proud to be an American. I don’t need to be told Make America Great Again by a orange faced con-artist. I believe America is already great but we can make it even better.

I don’t think they hate admitting that. I’m convinced that many simply believe it’s impossible. Being a Democrat is as disqualifying toward being an actual ‘American’ as being Muslim, being Gay, being Trans, etc. Hell, I doubt they even count conservative Blacks or Women as being more than ‘honorary’.
