CRAP. The wind just blew down my cedar privacy fence into my neighbors driveway. My neighbor had started moving pieces into my yard so I went out with a battery rotary saw and cut it into manageable lengths and now it’s sitting in my back yard. My insurance company is going to call me back in about an hour to start a claim. My deductible is $1000 so it won’t be a lot. Only one of the pickets broke so I may be able to salvage about 80% of them if I go that route. Posts are going to be a hassle because the guy I hired to set them came in with an auger that was at least 18”. There are massive concrete footings right where I want the new posts to be. I might look into using galvanized posts installed into the existing wood post holes.
When I put up my chain link fence I figured I would have to remove at least one post to allow large equipment into the yard so I used one of these set into concrete. The post slides in and out with no hassles. Well except for having to take the fencing down.
