I had the pleasure of being on temporary duty near Istanbul when Sen Dole pushed a resolution through (89-90??).
Okay, so then you could explain why it is such an issue here. I understand that the Turks don’t want the lable, but how much does it mean, really? We pass resolutions about all sorts of things, would this really mean anything? Would a Turk wake up and say to himself, dagnabit, I live in a country the committed genocide, just because the US Congress said so?
Admittedly, I do not get it.
Oh, I do understand the perception, but we pass the resolution, the Turks say $%$^ you, and life goes on…
