I might point out to those unfamiliar with UC Davis, it is a rural, fairly conservative school maybe 20 minutes west of Sacramento. There is the usual amount of crime that you would expect on a college campus, but it’s not exactly a hotbed of activism. I’d guess the campus cops had no clue what an appropriate response might be. That is in no way an excuse for them, more of an indictment of their training.

It’s not exactly Berkeley, what is, but I can’t believe they didn’t train their campus security for ‘upset students rallying about tuition hikes’.
