One year ago it won the biggest election there is with its base alone. For the past several years it has won election after election with only its base, by polarising its base more and more and driving them to the polls while relying on apathy, gerrymandering, and voter suppression. This is a proven strategy that will continue to work in the future unless the major parameters change.

There may be independent voters out there that may consider voting Democrat if the Democrats appear to be decent, moral alternatives. The key here is appear - while all branches of the media are controlled by Republicans and the Conservative cult, Democrats will never appear to be decent, moral alternatives. They will appear exactly as the media chooses them to appear in their narrative, which will be weak, corrupt, and without any coherent message.

I’m not saying that Democrats should not always seek to do the right thing. On the contrary, I think doing the right thing should always be the consideration, and that considering what Republicans will do or say should never be relevant. However, expecting that doing the right thing will win them votes is folly.

You are wrong. A major parameter has changed, and that is that there is a corrupt reprehensible, deeply unpopular Republican in the White House now. History shows that the party in power loses seats in the mid-term and that’s doubly true when the President is unpopular. We saw what can happen in Virginia last month, where the GOP lost its supermajority and barely held on to control of the House of Delegates (for now) and lost a Governor’s race they thought they would win because GOP turnout was depressed and Democratic voters were energized. The fact that a Democrat actually has a chance to win an Alabama Senate seat, which normally wouldn’t be possible in that deep red state, shows how much trouble the GOP is in. So quit with the gloom and doom; better times are ahead.
