I’ll support the south getting rid of the Rebel Flag when we equally get rid of Bl@ck History month or Martin Luther King Day. After all, there is no White History Month, no South Day, or Southern History Month for the south. Other people have special things the South doesn’t, and people want them to get rid of the only symbol of heritage and history they have by claiming it specifically stands for slavery. Fair is fair. I’m sure they’ll get rid of theirs, if everyone else gets rid of theirs…

Hmmm. ‘The only symbol of heritage and history they have.’

I’m not a Southerner, but…uh…THERE ARE SHITLOADS OF THEM!!! JESUS!!! The South is a hugely historical region which produced an entirely unfair number of our greatest politicians, explorers, artists, food and music. VIRGINIA ALONE PRODUCED George Washington, Henry Clay, Thomas Jefferson, Sam Houston, Patrick Henry, James Madison, John Marshall, Lewis AND Clark, Nat Turner, Booker T. Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Tom Wolfe, but you go right ahead shivering with your Confederate flag draped around you, and sniffle that you haven’t GOT any heritage, and other people have special things the South doesn’t.

Or, get the hell over yourself, and show a healthy pride in things normal people are proud of. Like having produced George Washington, Henry Clay, Thomas Jefferson…

It’s stupid is what it is and I Say that as someone who’s lived in Virginia my whole life. WE have a lot of great historical figures. Why do we need to celebrate the Confederacy? Let’s celebrate all the names you mentioned.
