I think they do, but, like the Irish, they were eventually considered acceptable (white), and gained preference in hiring etc over blacks.
That’s not to negate hard work, because I know they worked their butts off, but the difference is, they had to be hired in the first place in order to work those butts off, and accumulate generational wealth.
Some don’t accept the premise that being white grants certain advantages…

Indeed and an American of Irish decent, I’d like to point out that it greatly annoys me when other Americans of Irish decent try to claim that we had it harder than African Americans. Uh no, we had no forced slavery for generations in America, we had no culture if we said the wrong thing to a white person that we would have to worry about lynchings, etc. One can make the point that Irish-Americans and other ethnics had it tough without resorting to distorting the truth.
