I might halfway have some kind of grudging, not respect, but perhaps a kind of tolerant pity for a crazed street corner preacher who said stuff like this and really believed it.
Gohmert, however, is simply a tool of the oil industry who says crazy stuff so he can frighten semi-literate knuckle draggers, get their votes, and stay in power so he can help his real friends, the oil ticks.
