My international relations professor at community college worked for James Jesus Angleton, the CIA’s counter-intel guy. from 54-75. Guy was paranoid as hell about Soviet moles after Kim Phillby, who had been his friend in WWII was revealed to be one of the Cambridge Six but man that class was interesting. It provoked my imagination about Russia a lot. Those are the best professors though, the ones that are more than just mere academics but ones that have lived their subject. I had another history professor who directed a few presidential libraries and even gave one of Jerry Ford’s eulogy.
