I find both sides skilled and able.

I suppose partisans from both sides often feel the opposition is better at political muckraking and funeling their talking points / narratives into the national media, and that their side is at a rhetorical disadvantage :P. I guess your view of a rough partisan equilibrium is just as likely as what I perceive.
