From downstairs:

We saw the reason yesterday: They want to ram the economy back to as close to “normal” before November as they can because double-digit UE is electoral poison. Also, the sooner that the pandemic is declared “over,” the sooner they can start agitating for cuts to UEI and the social safety net to force the “freeloaders” back to work.

Mitch and others atop Capital Hill have signaled what the party as a whole fears: We might get to November or even into next year thinking that that whole “socialism” business might be a good idea.

Considering that the GOP as a whole is literally imploding out of existence before our eyes, I can well understand why they might be in a panic. The good news for me, personally, is that the state GOP is hardly a threat; despite the closeness of Hillary’s victory in 2016, and there have been some imports from Wisconsin who have diluted the Democratic majority somewhat, the gerrymandering is not obnoxiously bad and the suburbs are really the only places where dumbshits are to be found.
