There is a famous story of the court jester in Heidelberg who put away up to fourteen bottles of wine a day. He grabbed a pitcher, thinking it was wine, and downed it in one gulp as was his habit, it turned out to be water and he died of oedema.

Which makes no sense, since wine is typically 80-90% water itself, but I digress.
