To be fair, at least they acknowledged it was a bad move. The New York Times would have stamped their foot and gotten indignant that any of their readers questioned the wisdom of allowing Donny to print an op-ed absent even the most basic fact-checking.

A lampooning statement from the Times defending such an article:

We would have been of no benefit to our readers if we had fact checked Trump. Only the keenly aware know that it is best to present Trump as he is.

After all, Democrats, liberals, progressive, whatever they call themselves, have to realize Trump won the election for reasons they still do not seem to understand.

It is better to present the true Trump so you can get a feel for why he is now the president.

Warts and all, he is still popular with a large segment of the voting public. The left cannot deny that, though they try.
