Ross Douthat has weighed in on the cultural fallout from the Newtown shootings. He goes after Michael Bloomburg, as you’d expect, but then goes on to smack Wayne LaPierre even harder:

Here’s how Douthat describes the “New York elite” in the first two paragraphs of his op-ed piece:

“Self-righteous certainties”
“Chorister”
“Self-consciously centrist liberalism of the Acela Corridor elite” (my favorite!)
“Provincialism”
“Liberal paternalism”

Then in the very next paragraph *his* guys get described as “thoughtful center-right.”

Why the hell should I bother reading anything after that?
