the question isn’t really “when does life begin?”

There’s people in the hospital right now in need of kidneys, or bone marrow, or part of a liver. People who will die if nobody donates these parts for them.

That doesn’t entitle them to mine. They’re definitely people, their lives are at stake, but it’s still absolutely my call if I want to be selfish or generous with my body and its parts.

Life began around 4 billion years ago. Life does not begin at conception, because a dead egg or a dead sperm will not make a living zygote.
