He doesn’t believe in contraception. His religion requires him to accept the children God sends him. The pregnancy was not unexpected, unless they thought his wife was in menopause. The religion sucks. The daughter suffers. IIRC, Mrs. Santorum’s father is a genetic counselor or something, so the situation before and after the pregnancy was discovered were not surprises, unless some very educated heads were immersed in sand. Their religion requires them to do things differently than most of us would choose to do. And he wants to inflict the stringencies of his religion on everybody.

Actually, RC church does believe in contraception—just not by artificial means. Don’t ask me what the frickin’ logic is. But there is a grave responsibility in creating a child that is A BIG part of the religion. They suggest the “taking your temperature so you know when you ovulate” method.

Obviously not something that works real well for everyone.
