Agreed, and it could have been fixed with a change in the text. Instead of “forward the e-mail”, a “Please forward the contents of the e-mail” would do it.

Sure but— how were they supposed to anticipate that people would genuinely believe this was an attempt by the gov’t to track and keep info on dissenters?

I read a pretty good piece last night that said the truly frightening, and enlightening, thing about the townhalls, the nirthers, and the paranoia over this is that it all reveals that so many americans distrust the entire political process. They genuinely believe lies over facts. It doesn’t matter how often the Republican Gov of HI affirms Obama was born there—people are in this culture and this place where the burden of proof is somehow on the gov’t to show that they’re NOT preparing a Logan’s Run dystopia.

That does say something scary about where we are. BTW, I’m not saying this as an indictment of the right only, because the left is just as prone to insane theories and rumours and distrust of gov’t, especially of late. (since 2000, I mean).
