How many layers of intertwined, mutually-reinforcing evil need to be involved to produce something like this?

We literally cannot comprehend the people we are forced to fight in this conflict.

Let’s try and count; in no particular order:
1) Belief that woman are subservient to men
2) Belief that sexual crimes are so severe as to merit death
3) Belief that honor comes from the sexual purity of woman and fideltiy to Islamic orthodoxy alone, not from good behavior
4) Belief that murdering innocent civilians in horrible ways is just means to reclaim power and/or redress humiliation at the hands of foreigners
