re: #108 The Ghost of a Flea

Okay, in the area I’m in I’ve know old guys that use horse liniment and I’ve known old guys that used for-animals ivermectin* because they’re around those animals and exposed to the same parasites. It’s not always the best idea but also not usually lethal, but it’s a holdover from my mom’s generation—post-Depression thrift and thinking of doctor’s calls as unnecessary unless something’s serious.

But the current horse paste eaters aren’t people that are working in the farming economy, they’re people in suburbs and small towns who’ve been sold the idea there’s scientific validity because they don’t understand in vitro versus in vivo or dosage, but also are reassured that the medicine is somehow authentic because it’s in commercial circulation. It’s the shallow image of country medicine and common-sense treatment…which is a thing that only exists as an ad campaign; it’s the pastoralist art movement but for medicine.

so with experience and some trial and error they figured out how much/little to use.

these idiots are taking horse level dosages
