Well, VP Cheney did come out against Trump.

It’s interesting that folks most closely associated with the last GOP president are the ones who are loudest in denouncing Trump (other than the President’s brother, who seems to be far less capable than otherwise appeared). I can’t quite put my finger on why that is.

Oh wait. I do.

They have experience in dealing with terrorism on a massive scale, managing expectations, and dealing with Islamophobia - knowing that it’s a fool’s errand to declare war on more than 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide. Trying to separate terrorists from the community they live in. Trying to make inroads to keep new terrorists from forming.

Say what you want about how they dealt with Afghanistan and Iraq after 9/11, but keeping the Islamophobes at bay is a high water mark for the GWB administration. They played that right - and the Obama Administration has been no different in that regard.
