Fun fact: The original mauve dye Perkins produced was actually a very bright purple, but it faded fairly quickly to the paler color we think of today. It’s brightness in a sea of duller colors made it a sensation at the time.
The Victorians took up wearing some eye-watering combinations of colors as more synthetic dyes came on the scene.

Most of history, when people had access to color…they wore all of it at the same time, because each piece of dye work was more clout.
