Arthur Butz’s tenure allowed him to publish Holocaust denial volumes, and even place them on his Uni site (no longer there). But I assume the minute he mumbled something about denial in class, he would be out faster than light in vacuum.

I would hope an academic reaction from his fellow teachers would keep his ideas from being accepted, but not keep them from being uttered. (“Hundred flowers blossom” and all that.) The howling mad conflict might draw student attention to something besides football.
