I don’t need us to deny our differences. I want us to realize our differences help make the world a fascinating place. It’s a world of gosh I don’t know how many languages. A world of music of all kinds and foods too. And yet through it all, we are all humans too. I couldn’t be a Muslim but you know what, if that spiritual path suits you and you can acknowledge my and others right to pursue our own journeys, no problem. If you’re not from my country? Well there was a time when someone with my last name was a newcomer too.

We as humans are defined by differences more than similarities. That’s the exact point of why ‘colorblind’ policies don’t work. Celebrating differences rather than trying to pretend they don’t exist is how you actually get people and peoples accepted.
