The OT God is such a massively manipulative asshole. He’s just putting on a puppet show with people for his own entertainment. Which honestly makes a lot of sense in that it fits right in with the polytheistic Greek, Sumerian and Babylonian contemporaries. Life is mostly just a bunch of random shit that happens so it probably helps to think it’s all due to the vagaries of bored omnipotent fuckwits.

It is difficult to think of a worse character in literature than the OT God. Ironically, the only real contender may be the NT God, with this novel business of eternal torment in Hell for the thought crime of non-belief.
