Oh yeah. Afterburner booms. I was sitting at the edge of runway once and right over my head at about 300 feet was the USAF West Coast demo team F-15 Eagle. At one point it was so loud and this kid next to me was jumping up and down all excited that I fell over laughing.

SCUBA diving at Catalina … taking a break on the front deck resting… dot appeared on the horizon .. closer … closer .. and an F-16 punched vertical right over the boat.
