Looking a bit past the blogs etc, as we get to writing laws those details will matter to every owner and LEO guy that has to see if a guy is breaking the rules. Like when I accidentally bought LEO magazines with a pistol through an FFL and knew enough to trade them in for permissable ones.

I really think the salient detail bout the AR / M 16 rifles is not the semi auto thing. Really the problematic feature is the large magazine that can be changed fast. I’m not gonna stick a gun image in, but Remington and others make semi auto guns for deer/elk hunting. No removable mag, just feed 5 (or so) into the mechanism one at a time to reload. Old design. Kinda big, not a tactical gun.
