re: #85 andres

I find soccer a bit boring. Long stretches where basically nothing is actually happening.

Baseball? I have to fight sleep to see one game.

In baseball, any pitch can turn into a home run. Having said that, I prefer a pitcher’s duel anyday of the week.
There are a couple of things that confound me about soccer. A goal kick is almost uniformly blasted about 75 yards down the field, and is effectively a jump ball. What that tells me is that the 50/50 chance of recovering the goal kick downfield is still better the odds of bringing the ball up yourself (like you might see in hockey). And is spite of the fact that the goal is as big as a barn, it’s almost impossible to score a goal when the game is played the way it should be. I like defense but this is ridiculous.
My daughter was an excellent goalie because she wore a fluorescent green shirt and the other time unfailingly kicked the ball right into her chest!
