2. Anything big enough to be truthfully be compared to the Reichstag fire won’t be compared to anything. It will get its own place in history.

On your first point, concur.

On your second… well, the point of it was, “Reichstag Fire” gets tossed around so loosely these days, that every bit of excitement in the news gets compared to it by someone. (Lileks had commented: “In the future, everyone will be Hitler for 15 minutes”, referring to the Bush = Hitler shrieking from the left at the time.)
