Tangent: If you are a programmer or involved in any way with UI design, and either by design or through adherence to the status quo you allow your program to commit the grievous sin of focus-stealing, then I really hate you lots and lots. I don’t mean the friendly sort of “oh, he doesn’t really mean it, he’s just exaggerating for comic effect, *polite, diplomatic, tension-reducing laughter*” way, either. I mean I have a deep and visceral hatred for you, personally, solely because you figured it was a good idea for your program to interrupt my typing with an ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL Yes/No input dialog, and set the focus in such a way that the very next keystroke is interpreted as a mouse click on the default button, and naturally the default is the most catastrophically harmful option imaginable.

So, what I see is the faintest outline of a dialog window for 0.000000031 seconds, then “OK THANKS FOR CONFIRMING THAT YOU WANT TO TOTALLY FUCK UP EVERYTHING YOU’VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR THE PAST 9 DAYS IN THIS OTHER WINDOW THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE THING YOU’RE CURRENTLY TYPING INTO. THANK YOU FOR USING JACKASSWARE 3.31”

Seriously, I thought the concept that focus stealing == bad was something that people would have a handle on by now.
