Self-marketing may also have gone digital, but the large reach of established companies is tough to compete with. No matter how good the product is, it’s forced to compete in the marketplace if somebody wants to make a living at it.
I suppose. But between being able to edit and mix a record on a lap top, and then release it on the iTunes, Google, and Amazon stores as digital, and being able to market on instagram, snapchat, and all the other social media platforms, I just wonder what the advantage of a “record deal” is today beyond getting on traditional radio (apparently it’s fairly easy to get on pandora and spotify now too).
