He certainly does. I’m always impressed by singers with a huge range like his. It’s one of the reasons Queen hasn’t had as many covers as it might deserve: there just aren’t that many singers who can pull off the vocals Mercury wrote and performed.
Me, I’ve got a range of about a third, on a good day, and couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.
That’s why I’m disappointed in Mariah Carey, she supposedly could sing 8 octaves (I think?) but for some reason went WAY too pop-ish. Unlike Christina Aguilera, who even when she went “pop”, still sang her guts out, and then later grew up and is now very mature for her age.
