What’s actually the point of dings on LGF? On some boards, you get certain privileges for rating other people’s comments, etc. On LGF, I see that it might help some people who may choose to only read highly-rated comments, but other than that, it doesn’t seem to have any cumulative impact. Am I missing something?

I sort of see up-dings as a “high five” for a good or at least humorous post, while down-dings are the equiv of old-style “GAZE” comments that would flood the topic. Plus, a surplus of the former is a way of finding comments that stand-out for one reason or another while the latter is a way of making it clear to trolls their brainfarts are unwelcome or shaming those who should know better.
