Well, I wonder if I’m a “social conservative”, since I really don’t have a problem with I.D. being presented in schools (having faith in the intelligence of our young citizens). My belief regarding the origin of species is still incomplete. My mind is still open, to some extent. I do understand the horror some persons feel when it appears that “creationism” (or whatever you call it) is being advocated. I wouldn’t worry about that, but I perfectly understand Charles’ horror at the imposition of religion upon state. Separation of church and state is so fundamental to our democracy and way of life that it’s worth defending vigorously.
