Well, that could be, though we did have a Democratic representative in NE-2 (Omaha) and the district gave up an electoral vote for President Obama in 2008. (Then gerrymandering the three House districts came along to ensure that wouldn’t happen again.)

The electoral votes each state gets are interesting in their own right. With the exception of Maine and Nebraska, it is impossible to gerrymander those.

In Maine and Nebraska, you can, since electoral votes in the two states are apportioned by House district and not winner-takes-all.

So when you hear a Republican suggest in your state that you should get behind the model Nebraska and Maine uses, you should resist it. While our state has used that model for a very long time, GOP state legislatures proposing it now are doing so to be able to gerrymander electoral votes.
