re: #1313 Sharmuta

It’s the entire system of how the government collects and spends money. The entire process from beginning to end wasteful and corrupt. We need to force the hand of government by tying them to a balanced budget. This is why we don’t just say we’ll balance it, we’ll make it the law by passing an amendment to the Constitution. We follow up with real reforms in tax collection and spending mechanisms.

Because it’s not that we don’t have the money. We have plenty of money. Congress is just drunk with the power to spend it. It’s time for an intervention. We the People do not have to tolerate this. We can pass the balanced budget amendment and put government back inside it’s proper borders by constraining their power and its source- revenue.

Is anyone in Congress working on a bill that would do any or all of these things? Any major think tanks on the case? Is it a plank in the Republican platform? I am not trying to be sarcastic; I genuinely would like to know. If none of those things are happening, and if they are it’s not getting any publicity, then it might be because it is not a winning issue with the voters. If we want to win, I think we should focus on winning issues where there’s already some support. To me, that seems more effective than trying to sell a constitutional amendment that is necessarily vague on specifics.
