Came across something via FB today and I feel you’re in an especially good position to comment on it (though others are more than welcome to weigh in). Maybe I’m misinterpreting, but to me, it feels like “both-siderism” and demanding the tolerant be tolerant of intolerance (I mean, I agree with the general premise that you shouldn’t dehumanize others - that’s a no-brainer - but is that automatically what “contempt” is, under all circumstances…?)

Holding a person in contempt is not great, holding a group of people in contempt is way worse, but I have no problem holding the ideas, statements, and behavior of anybody in contempt.
