Yeah, I mean I have no illusions about the mass of bigots and nutjobs that have outsized influence in the US, how archaic important institutions are, and that things can go pear shaped pretty quickly. But these archaic institutions have a lot of inertia and the dynamics are very different than a country with a new political system that is just waiting to snap right back to the bad old days.

The “bad old days” in the U.S. are extremely bad. We’re *still* dealing with ramifications of the bad old days of the Civil War. Eek!
